SaharaReporters has reported that the prisoners who escaped last week from Kuje Prison in Abuja have been rearrested, according to sources. This news
follows reports that the escapees had assistance from prison staff to break out.
Sources speaking to SaharaReporters disclosed that the apprehended men are being held at the Department of State Services (DSS) Headquarters in Abuja. The authorities are deciding where to put the escapees.
No information was immediately available on where the escaped prisoners were arrested or their condition at the time of arrest.
SaharaReporters also learned that prison guards and staff were jubilant at the news and were heard celebrating the news in their respective wards.
