Alexander Isak, one of Europe’s hot prospects, has signed for Borussia
Dortmund from AIK.
The 17-year-old striker scored 10 goals in the Swedish league last season
and had been reportedly in talks with Real Madrid.
According to Dortmund, Alexander Isak has signed a long-term contract at
Signal Iduna Park, after the Bundesliga side staved off competition from Real
Madrid to land the youngster for a reported £8.6million
Standing at 6ft 2in, the striker is seen as Ibrahimovic’s natural
successor in the Swedish national side.
sak posed with Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc and club CEO
Hans-Joachim Watzke as the deal was confirmed.
Zorc acknowledged that there had been plenty of competition for the
player’s signature, but that they were sure – as was the player – that the
right move had been made.
‘Alexander Isak is a high-caliber wonderkid, who was wanted by numerous
top clubs in Europe,’ said the sporting director.
‘We are very glad that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund. BVB is just as
convinced as the player that this transfer is one with great potential.’
The move is now the most expensive sale in the history of Swedish
football – more than the fee Ajax spent to bring Zlatan to Holland from Malmo
back in 2001, at £7.5m.
