The police in
Edo State have launched a manhunt for the pastor of Miracle House of God
Prophetic Ministry on Ituanyemwangbon Street, Prophet Great Emokpae, who
allegedly had an amorous affair with the wife of one Anthony Ehikioya.
It also said
it had commenced investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the
incident.
Mr Ehikioya
had accused Prophet Emokpae of having an affair with his wife, after he
reportedly obtained an audio recording containing a conversation between them.
Angered by the
development, he was said to have mobilised some youths to the church, located
off Upper Uwa Street in Ikpoba-Okha area, on Sunday where property belonging to
the church were destroyed and some charms allegedly discovered.
Several items,
including chairs and musical instruments, were destroyed by the mob.
The state
Police PRO, Moses Nkombe, told Southern City News that it received a complaint
from the husband of the woman and had begun a search for the fleeing pastor.
Officer Nkombe
said that the police would take an action against those who raided the church
in a manner he described as jungle justice.
“The pastor is
on the run. There is a manhunt for him,” he said.
A source said
that Mr. Ehikioya had been suspicious of his wife, who was the woman leader of
the church, as she had allegedly refused to perform her marital duty.
The source had
said, “What happened was that the man had been noticing that his wife was no
longing wanting to sleep with him. It was on that note that he told his
children that their mother did not allow him to have s*xual inter-course with
her.
“So, he programmed
the woman’s phone. So when they went through all the recordings, they now
discovered that the pastor was calling the woman and speaking of his previous
s*xual encounter with her. It was on that note that they (mob) stormed the
church.”
The prophet
could not be reached either through his father or two telephone numbers that
were sighted on one of the banners of the church.
But the
pastor's father, who identified himself as Emokpae, dismissed the allegation as
a set up and accused the complainant of allegedly taking the law into his hand
by attacking the church.
