About 100 ball
pythons were found dead last month in a Florida home where the floor was
covered in feces and urine, wildlife officials said Thursday.
The snakes
were discovered in the Jupiter home of Jennifer Morrison, 59, the Sun Sentinel reported. The Florida Fish and
Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a report that investigators were
forced to wear gloves and masks while in the home because the smell in the
house was so bad. She was reportedly living at the home at the time.
The snakes
were found in dozens of plastic bins inside the home's bathroom, the report
said. The dead reptiles were seized on Feb. 16. Morrison was charged with
confinement of animals without sufficient food, water or exercise and animal
abandonment, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Morrison was
either a reptile dealer or attempting to become one, the paper reported. She
faces possible jail time or a fine of up to $5,000.
Officials also
removed a handful of animals that were still alive in the home, including two
dogs, two red-footed tortoises, two parakeets and two more ball pythons.
