The acting
president condemned the violence and condoled with the families of the victims,
saying that security agencies would restore peace in Kaduna State.
In response
to the recent outbreak of violence in Kajuru, Kaduna State, Acting President
Yemi Osinbajo has ordered the deployment of fresh security forces to the
affected communities in effort to restore peace and prosecute the perpetrators.
His order
was made public in a press statement released by the State House on Wednesday,
one day after news broke that between 33 and 37 people were killed in communal
clashes in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State.
The acting
president condemned the violence and condoled with the families of the victims,
saying that security agencies would restore peace in Kaduna State.
Saharareporters reported that Mr. Osinbajo
further vowed to prosecute the perpetrators of the killings, emphasizing that
ending violence in Southern Kaduna is a “source of concern” for the federal
government.
“We will not
relent and won't be deterred in our pursuit of securing the lives and property
of all Nigerians, everywhere and in every part of this nation,” he said.
“In the end,
we will not only secure the peace all around, but we shall enforce justice for
the victims and all of those that are affected.”
