Liverpool
and Tottenham have reportedly joined the
growing list of suitors in the race for Super Eagles attacking midfielder Moses Simon.
Reports in
the British media on Wednesday claimed that Premier League newcomers Brighton
had an £8.4m bid turned down for the player
by his Belgian club Gent, who have slapped a £13m price tag on him.
The
22-year-old, who has forced his way into first-team reckoning under Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, has been
continually linked with Premier League
mid-table side West Brom. The player, who joined Gent from Slovak outfit Trencin
in 2015, can play up front or out wide.
Liverpool
and Tottenham, who are looking to
bolster their attacks ahead of the new season, believe Simon’s pace and real
trickery on the ball could help them in
the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
The Jos-born player, who represented Nigeria
the Turkey 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup,
scored five goals and provided seven assists to help Gent
finish third in the Belgian Jupiler League last season.
According to
Football Insider, Tottenham became interested in Simon after he played a
starring role when knocking Mauricio Pochettino’s men out of the Europa League
in February.
Meanwhile,
Uche Agbo says he is delighted to have sealed a move to Belgian club Standard Liege after four years
in Spain.
“I am so
happy that I have a job for the next three years,” Agbo was quoted by SCORENigeria as saying on
Thursday.
“I settled
for Standard Liege because the offer was too tempting, I will earn more than
what I got in Spain and I have other benefits as well.
“It’s just a
good offer and I’m not a loan but I was bought permanently from Granada.”
