The
suspected kidnappers of the mother of Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, in May
2014, have been paraded by the police. Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria
Police
Force, Jomoh Moshood, who paraded the suspects before newsmen at a press
conference in Abuja, said the kidnap was carried out in Uvete, Adavi local
government area of Kogi on May 29, 2014 when the governor was still the
Managing Director of Fair Plus Transport Services. He gave the names of the
suspects as Iliyasu Suleiman (44), Danjuma Ibrahim (26), Iliyasu Obadaki (35),
Alhaji Nasiru (43) and Hafiz Yakubu.
Items
recovered from the suspects include two AK 47 rifles; 20 live cartridges, one
army camouflage inner wear; two army camouflage pair of trousers, two army
camouflage caps, one black Beretta, two plastic guns, three sharp knives and
one axe. Jimoh said the suspects during interrogation, confessed to kidnapping
the governor’s mother as well as committing other robberies in FCT, Kogi and
Niger.
Jimoh added
that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
