Although iconic actor, Saidi Balogun was born
on 5th February 1967, he chose the month of June to celebrate his birthday.
Sadly, the cold hands of death struck the
Yoruba speaking sector of Nollywood
with the demise of Moji Olaiya and Samuel Adesanya popularly known as Pastor
Ajidara, forcing the thespian to shift his birthday celebration.
In a chat with Saturday Beats, the actor said
that all was set for the celebration and he has promised not to spare anything
to have fun.
He said, “You know clocking 50 in Nigeria is a
milestone. I am grateful to God that in my lifetime, I have a very successful
career and I have broken records with my movies. I was the first to have an
all-white cast. I have shot an all Ankara movie as well as a two man cast
movie; so it is only natural that I celebrate my life and achievements. The
celebration would have commenced since last month but I had to hold the plans
to mourn and bury our late colleagues whom we loved and cherished so much.”
As part
of his birthday celebration, Balogun plans to visit accident victims at the
University College Hospital, Ibadan. There will also be a public lecture at the
Theatre Art Department of the university.
