news is at the heart of the bbc. bbc news group employs approximately 800 staff
in 98 international bureaux. it provides multimedia services to a global
weekly
audience of over 239 million in english and 27 languages around the clock,
every day of the year. the bureaux react to breaking news, provide news updates
and analysis and produce live programme output. in a highly competitive market,
delivering to both uk licence fee payers and commercial partners, bbc news
services must be reliable and consistent. in 2011, newsgathering, world service
and monitoring teams came together into one news group and in 2014, all world
service and monitoring activity transfers to licence fee funding.
the
international bureaux management team supports all news group bureaux. you will
report in first instance to the bureau manager for the day-to-day running of
the lagos bureau’s finances and administration. you will be responsible for the
supervision of the financial and administrative affairs for all parts of bbc
news group in lagos.

responsibility
an exciting
opportunity has arisen within the lagos bureau, reporting in the hub bureau
manager the administration assistant will have a number of duties including:
supporting financial and administration affair as part of tight knit team,
organising transport for guests, assisting in interviews, assisting guests in
the tv and radio studio for live transmissions, directing calls for staff and
dealing with requests from the public for information about bbc.
in this role
you would also be responsible for all mail operations, fax communications as
well reviewing invoices and coding appropriately for payment.
the ideal
candidate
to be
successful in post we would need a candidate to be able to prioritise and use
initiative when required and work effectively under pressure. you will have a
natural inclination towards organisation and planning and very strong eye for
detail.
practical
knowledge of microsoft packages such as; excel, word and accounting packages
are essential as is experience in producing timely and accurate reports.
