Armed suspected
terrorists on Monday killed a traditional ruler, Lazarus Agai, along with two
of his staff members and a driver. The slain ruler held the title of Saf Ron
Kulere, a first class traditional post in Plateau State.
An official of the
Plateau State Government confirmed the murderous attack to a correspondent of
SaharaReporters.
Our source disclosed
that the traditional ruler and his entourage were ambushed on their way from a
farm situated in Sha, a community within the ruler's domain.
"The governor
has been briefed, but is yet to receive a detailed situation report from
security agencies," the state official told our correspondent. He added
that the governor had "directed security agencies to move into
action." He described the killings as "unfortunate and dastardly
acts."
The source refused
to speculate on whether the killers were Fulani herdsmen, saying he had no
authorization to reach that conclusion. However, he insisted that the
assailants were "terrorists and nothing but terrorists perpetrating acts
of terror.
"The Plateau
State government is not interested in stereotyping anybody. But we can say that
the killers are terrorists because what transpired was terrorism.”
