The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement on Thursday wondered how the
Nigerian military were able to “triumphantly” kill Boko Haram leader Abubakar
Shekau on four occassions without rescuing the abducted Chibok School girls.
According to the Obiageli Ezekwesili, leader BBOG during a protest to the
Presidential Villa Abuja, time had completely run out and a decisive action was
needed to rescue the abducted girls.
She said, “Another key issue in the last 72 hours is the military’s
announcement that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, was fatally wounded
during air raids.
“We want it on record that this is at least the fourth time the Nigerian
state has triumphantly announced killing this fellow.
“Today, day 864 since the abduction of our girls, time has completely run
out. It is time to take decisive action and bring them home. No more delays.”
It will be recalled that the military had on Tuesday said an
unprecedented and spectacular air raid “fatally wounded” Abubakar Shekau in his
shoulders.
“Those Boko Haram terrorists commanders confirmed dead include Abubakar
Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman, amongst others, while their leader, the
so-called ‘Abubakar Shekau’, is believed to be fatally wounded on his
shoulders. Several other terrorists were also wounded,” Sani Kukasheka Usman,
spokesman of the army, had said.
