ASABA—Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi
Okowa, yesterday, congratulated former governor of the state, Chief James
Ibori, and former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of
Trustees, BoT, Chief Tony Anenih on their birthdays, today.
He rejoiced with
Chief Ibori and Chief Anenih, who turns 57 and 83-year-old respectively, today.
Okowa in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Charles Aniagwu, extolled
the enigmatic political prowess of his former boss, Chief Ibori, who he
described as an astute administrator and leader of impeccable disposition.
Noting that the sterling contributions of Chief Ibori to the development of
Delta State and Nigeria were legendary, and will remain a subject of discussion
by contemporary political watchers, Okowa said: “On behalf of the government
and people of Delta State, I felicitate with a leader par excellence, Chief
Ibori, on the occasion of his 57th birthday.
“My distinguished leader, that oil
producing states of the Niger Delta are enjoying 13 per cent derivation today
is unarguably due to your indefatigable role as a champion of resource control
and fiscal federalism.
“Deltans and Nigerians cannot forget in a hurry how you laboured
to the build the most virile, potent and invincible political force in Delta
State, even as your legacies still dot the nooks and crannies of the state.”
Also, Okowa described Chief Anenih as a politician with uncommon leadership
qualities. He said: “On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta
State, I extend very warm felicitations to you as you turn 83 today.
Your
uncommon leadership qualities, courage, and evident faith in the peace, unity,
progress, and prosperity of our dear nation have seen you remain one of
Nigeria’s most highly respected political icons over the years.”
