rumours and Hollywood seem to go hand-in-hand, with barely a day going by without
claims someone else has gone under the knife.
While many
celebrities admit to having work done, others insist the rumours are way off
the mark with some very surprising reasons to explain away a sudden change in
appearance.
From allergies to
medical problems, here's some of the weirdest and most surprising explanations
from our favourite A-listers.
Renee Zellwegger
After she hit the
headlines for looking almost unrecognisable on the red carpet in 2014, surgery
rumours surrounded the actress. But explaining her appearance this week she
claimed to be just distracted.
“I’d been staying
with a friend in Los Angeles and the month before she’d been diagnosed with ALS
[a neurological disease]," she said.

to that event was that she wanted me to go, so she could be on the red carpet
with me and prove to herself she wasn’t being defeated by this terrible
disease.
“And that’s what I
was thinking about that day. I wasn’t thinking about what I looked like or what
people thought. I was thinking about my friend.”

Kylie's lips
suddenly expanded at the end of 2014, but the star maintained that rather than
getting fillers it was all about her make-up.
Claiming her
increased pout was just down to some clever technique with the lip liner, Kylie
told Grazia magazine in November 2014: "I'm kind of sick of it. My
pictures, I palp them out a lot. I think big lips are awesome. I love lip liner
and over lining my lips."
However, coming
clean a few months later she admitted in an episode of Keeping up with the
Kardashians: "I have temporary lip fillers. It's just an insecurity of
mine and it's what I wanted to do."
"I'm just not
ready to talk to reporters about my lips yet because everyone always picks us
apart," she continued.
