A young man has been
hospitalised after being found lying in the street with a slashed neck.
The 24-year-old, who
has not yet been named, was discovered on the pavement outside a takeaway in
Liverpool in the early hours of this morning.
He was taken to hospital ,
where he is undergoing treatment for a slash wound.
Police say
they are not treating his injuries as suspicious - and are not looking for
anyone else in connection with the incident, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Paramedics and
police officers were called to the scene after the man was seen lying on the
ground in Priory Road, Anfield, at around 4.40am.
Forensics officers
remained at the scene this morning examining the pavement, where blood could be
seen, outside the Happy Villa takeaway.
Part of the pavement
and several shops were taped off with a Merseyside Police officer by the
cordon. The takeaway only opened when the cordon came down at around 2pm.
Joy Zeng, who lives
above the row of shops, said before details of the incident emerged: “I live
upstairs, and I was scared to see the tape there this morning.
"I don’t know
what’s happened.”
The man suffered a
small slash injury to his neck in the incident.
A police spokeswoman
said: “Merseyside Police can confirm they were called to Priory Road, Walton,
in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 1 September, following concerns
for a male lying on the pavement.
“Paramedics attended
the scene at 4.40am and found a 24 year-old male with a small slash wound to
his neck. He was taken to hospital where he remains today.
