In the face of Recession: Nature attack Nigeria’s food security, FG, northern governors meet to strategise


Following fear of imminent locust attack on farm produce in the country, Nigerian Government on Monday summoned 11 State Governors from the Northern part of the nation.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh invited the governors to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to swiftly discuss ways out of the looming effect of the threat.
According to sources in the Ministry, the grasshoppers invaded Nigeria from neighbouring Niger Republic.
Already, Nigeria is experiencing food shortage as a result of the current economic recession.
Natural cause such as flooding is another major factor mitigating against the country’s drive to food sufficiency.
According to Global Village Extra report, the meeting to avert grasshopper invasion into the country started at about 3pm today, while they are to device a lasting solution to the threat.
