The 2016/2017
Academic session will commence in Lagos State public and private schools on
September 19.
The Deputy
Governor of Lagos state, Dr. Idiat
Oluranti Adebule, who made this known in her Eid el Kabir message to stakeholders in education sector said classes will start running from the resumption date as there is no time
to waste.
She lauded
teachers in the state for their dedication to duty. This, she noted was
manifest in the results of the various external examinations and competitions
that the students participated in last session.
She praised
the result of the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination
(WASSCE), which she described as a clear departure from the past.
Adebule urged
both teaching and non-teaching staff of public schools to report at their duty
posts promptly as officers of the Education Quality Assurance office have been
directed to monitor strict compliance.
She warned
that anyone found wanting would be punished.
Parents were
urged to ensure that their children and wards resumed on the appointed date. THE NATION
