Arsenal will
open talks with midfielder Mesut Ozil and forward Alexis Sanchez about
extending their contracts at the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil and Sanchez
are both contracted to the Gunners for another two years but Arsene Wenger is
keen to secure their futures in north London.
Speaking ahead
of Tuesday’s Champions League group stage opener against Paris Saint-Germain,
the Frenchman said: “Ozil and Sanchez, we will start to talk for their
extensions.”
Earlier this
month it was reported that Ozil could be handed a deal in the region of
£200,000 a week, while Sanchez’s terms could include a fixed-price release
clause.
Last season,
Ozil scored six Premier League goals and assisted 19 — the highest in the
division in 2015-16 — while Sanchez netted 13 times and layed on four.
