A woman
wearing a large cross necklace is being sought in a burglary inside a Georgia
church that was captured by a surveillance camera.
The Hall
County Sheriff’s Office on Friday released photos taken from the camera inside
Corinth Baptist Church in Gainesville and asked for the public’s help in
identifying the suspect, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The photos
show a woman with a cross around her neck. She has on a dress and her hair is
in a ponytail.
Deputies say
she broke into the church overnight on Aug. 25 and stole musical instruments
and electronics worth about $3,000, the station reported.
“She looks
like a normal person,” Deputy Stephen Wilbanks told WXIA-TV. “She doesn’t fit
the profile of our typical burglar that we see.”
No one knows
how she got into the church. No locks or windows were broken.
Pastor Chris
Swan told the Gainesville Times he doesn’t believe the woman is a member of the
congregation.
He said the
items were discovered missing the following Sunday morning.
“When we
went to do (a) sound check and things of that nature, we realized one thing was
gone and then two things were gone,” he told the paper.
