Steven N’Zonzi
turned down a £25m move to Premier League champions Leicester before last
Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to the Daily Star.
The report
suggests the midfielder decided to remain in Spain with Sevilla after he
learned he would not be eligible to play for Sam Allardyce’s England.
French-born
N’Zonzi wasn’t the only Seviila midfielder to see a proposed move to the Premier
League collapse.
While he was
in talks with champions Leicester, Vicente Iborra, 28, thought he was on his
way to Sunderland for £7 million.
But Sevilla
pulled the plug on that deal, seemingly because they thought they were going to
lose N’Zonzi.
Then the
Europa League winners further strengthened their midfield department with the
loan signing of Manchester City’s Samir Nasri, 29.
