Unity schools’ parents protest 300% tuition hike

Parents whose children attend the Federal Government College, Jos,Plateau State, on Friday staged a peaceful protest over the increase in Unity schools’ fees and other charges by the Federal Government.
The school is set to resume on September 18.
The  aggrieved parents marched to the Government House, Little Rayfield, on Friday to register their complaints with Governor  Simon Lalong and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His majesty DA Jecob Gyang Buba.
In a letter entitled, “Complaint on the hike in School fees and other charges in the Federal  Government College, Jos, signed by Mr. Olusegun and addressed to the Gbong Gwom, the parents said the increase was too much, considering the present economic crunch.
Some of them carried placards with inscriptions, ‘Parents say no hike of school fees in FGC.’ ‘What is the fate of tomorrow leaders? ‘We say no to impunity.’ ‘Parents say no to N12,000 deposit for textbooks.’ ‘PMB, save our school from total collapse.’ And ‘300 per cent hike in school fees of unity schools unacceptable.’PUNCH
