Arsenal beat Sunderland to go top

Top of the table

Sunderland 1-4 Arsenal

Sunderland look Championship at best'

Sunderland 1-4 Arsenal

Statistically Sunderland have had a terrible start to the season.
There's no anger from the fans any more, it was just a terrible capitulation.
Sunderland have a number of players in that midfield that simply aren't good enough. They look like a Championship side, at best.

It is all over, with Arsenal showing their superiority after teasing everyone and letting Sunderland think they had a chance.
Alexis Sanchez's diving header put the visitors ahead but, seconds after they were denied what looked a clear penalty, Jermain Defoe equalised with a spot-kick after Duncan Watmore had been fouled by Petr Cech.
But Gunners substitute Olivier Giroud made an instant impact, scoring twice in five minutes before Sanchez added a fourth from close range.
Arsenal go top, Sunderland stay bottom, with safety looking a long, long way off.
