Ali Al-Habsi says he
“very happy” at Reading and wants to extend his stay beyond the end of the
season.
The goalkeeper
signed a two-year deal when he joined the Royals in the summer of 2015, and is
quoted by the Reading Post as saying: “Of course I want to stay. I really like
this club. It’s like a family for me.
“Everyone respects
me and I would love to give them more and more. I’m very happy, I’m very
pleased – but I don’t want to confuse myself by thinking too much about it.
“I just want to be
focused on helping the team get what we need.”
Al-Habsi added:
“Many people have been asking me about being in my last few months with the
club.
“But for me the most
important thing is to concentrate and do my job.
“As a player the
most important thing is to focus on football. The club and my agent deal with
the other things.
“I just want to do
my job right up to the last day of the season.”
Al-Habsi turns 35 in
December but believes he is currently playing the best football of his career
under Jaap Stam.
“I feel like I’m at
my best level,” he said. “I’m feeling very good, very sharp so I have to keep
on performing well for the rest of the season.”
