FORMER
governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, who recently returned from the
United Kingdom, recently played host to the Executive Committee of the Urhobo
Progress Union, UPU, the ruling umbrella body of the Urhobo people both at home
and in diaspora. The union came to felicitate with him on his successful return
to the country.
Speaking with
newsmen in Oghara, the President-General of UPU Chief Joe Omene said, “we came
to rejoice with our illustrious son, Chief James Ibori over his successful
return to his homeland. We also discussed some important issues with him which
we will not make public. I can say that our meeting with him went well.
And in no
time, we shall, in conjunction with the clergy class in Urhobo land, reconcile
those who were deemed to have offended him in one way or the other and those
who felt offended by his actions or inactions so that all of us can move on
happily again. He is an illustrious son of Urhobo, we have missed him for too
long.” Omene said.
