Inaki Williams is a Liverpool transfer target for the summer, but the Reds face competition from Juventusand Dortmund for the Athletic Bilbao forward, according to reports in Tuttosport.
They are reporting that Liverpool may have to pay the £42.5m directly to the player so he can pay his release clause himself. Javi Martinez and Ander Herrera had to do the same to engineer their exits a few years ago.
In 2012, Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed how tough negotiating with Bilbao can be.
“They refused to cooperate from the very first day,” he said, referring to his attempts to sign Martinez.
“We’ve had tax and legal problems to solve over the last few days, but fortunately we’ve succeeded. The player has made an indirect contribution by foregoing a large sum of his salary.”
