Scarlett
Johansson.The actress
opened up about riding solo due to her busy work
schedule in an interview
conducted before news broke of her divorce with
ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
In an
interview with Event
Magazine, the Ghost in the Shell star explained
constantly filming blockbusters means she's never really staying in one place —
which can cause challenges in one's marriage.
The
32-year-old said that she travels so much, she doesn't even really have a
permanent residence, admitting:
"I work a
lot so I don't really live anywhere for very long periods of time. Sometimes I
live in Paris for a couple of months, then I have a job some place and then I
come back to New York. I guess my base is New York-ish, cause my family is
here. But my husband's family is all in Paris so we try to spend a lot of time
there also. Especially now that we have Rose."
Nowadays,
ScarJo's plans are a bit different: she and Dauriac filed for divorce earlier this month, and
she has filed for physical custody of their 2-year-old daughter Rose
Dorothy.
Damn, Black
Widow would be proud!
Though the
interview took place before news of their split surfaced, the reporter noted
that the actress referred to Dauriac as her "hubby," and she insisted
the family will "all be in one place" once Rose starts going to
school.
Johansson also
confessed she had a history of entering relationships for the wrong reasons,
like "not wanting to feel alone – or trying to fill some kind of space, or
deal with the way I feel when I am in a crowd or suddenly on my own."
The Avengers star
said she'd been doing some soul searching over the past few years, and realized
she's "never actually been alone," in reference to her twin brother Hunter.
Apparently,
all that self-reflection made the actress realize she's never been great at
alone time. She explained:
"And in
those first moments of life, even just the spark of it, having somebody else
there must affect one, right? Because of that, I'm learning now how to be alone
just with myself. But it's challenging. It doesn't mean that I don't feel alone
at times or lonely, but I'm realizing that I've always had this other half out
there."
Wow. In
hindsight, these quotes are very telling! Was she preparing us for the
inevitable blow of her breakup? Or maybe she was just prepping herself…
Either way, we
hope Scarlett and Romain work out their custody drama and find a way to end
things amicably.
