Soldiers
attached to Command Science Secondary School, Lafia, Nasarawa State, on
Thursday, arrested two persons suspects for allegedly vandalising transformer,
opposite
the school.
Capt.
Ibrahim Marafa, the school’s Administrative Officer, said this while handing
the suspects over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),
Nasarawa State Command in Lafia.
He said the
suspects were caught while removing the transformer’s armored cable.
The
administrative officer also said other items recovered from the suspects were;
a Bajaj motorcycle and some electrical tools.
Marafa
further said the suspects were handed over to the NSCDC for further
investigation and prosecution.
Receiving
the suspects, Mr. Lawan Bashir-Kano, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state
commended the military officers for the apprehending the suspects.
He called
for more synergy between NSCDC and stakeholders toward crime prevention and
safeguarding of lives and property of the people in the state.
Bashir-Kano
noted that cases of transformer vandalism had become rampant in the state in
recent time, especially in Lafia.
He warned
people with such and other tendencies to steer clear of public assets, adding
that NSCDC and other security agencies were determined to hunt them down.
“We have
established the Anti-vandalism Special Response Squad and the level of
awareness to members of the public on how to safeguard public assets is
yielding appreciable results,” Bashir-Kano said.
He also said
the suspects would be charged to court at the end of the investigation. (NAN)
