A
30-year-old man has revealed why he, in a fit of anger, killed his 29-year-old
wife over N2,000 feeding money.
The man, a
commercial driver from Ihima, in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State,
said his wife, Falilat, picked a quarrel with him because of his inability to
fend for the family.
In his
words: “My wife requested for N4, 000 for her to buy food items; but I managed
to give her N2,000, promising that the next day I would run round for the
balance.
“But she
started abusing me when I insisted she must return N500 from the N2,000 so that
I could use it to run around. Before I knew what was happening, she slapped me. This made me angry, as I picked
up a knife and stabbed her.”
Garuba, who
now regrets his action, asked for forgiveness, while expressing concern over
the health condition of their 15-year-old only son.
Parading 15
other suspects arrested over various offences, ranging from armed robbery,
kidnapping, cattle rustling and stealing, the Deputy commissioner of police in
charge of operations, Mr. Yahaya Abubakar, who represented the CP, said crime
rate in Kogi State had drastically reduced, owing to proactive crime detention
strategies the CP adapted.
He said in
the last three weeks, over 70 suspects had been arrested and paraded by the
state command.
While
commending the state governor for his support in the fight against crime in the
state, he called on members of the public to continue to provide useful
information to the police.
Items recovered
include three vehicles; one green Volkswagen Golf car, with registration
number, KSF 911EH; one White Golf car, with registration number, AJK 375 AA and
a Toyota Camry, with registration number, SMK 620 DE.
