Everton are hopeful of completing the signing of
Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini.
The striker scored nine times last term and Everton
have launched a £20m bid for his services after missing out on on Lucas Perez
to Arsenal.
Talks remain ongoing with Napoli with terms agreed
in principle, according to the Liverpool Echo.
But Napoli are holding out for a higher offer and
are refusing to sanction any deal until they find a replacement for the Italy
international, even though he has fallen down the pecking order at Stadio San
Paolo in recent seasons.
It has been reported that the Naples side want
Leonardo Pavoletti but will not allow Gabbiadini to leave for Goodison until
they have secured the Genoa forward.
Manchester City’s outcast Wilfried Bony has also
emerged as a target for Napoli.
Napoli lost star striker Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus
this summer but any hope Gabbiadini had of filling the void were dashed when
they paid £30m for Ajax’s Arkadiusz Milik, a player Everton had been
monitoring.
Gabbiadini started their opening game of the season
but was an unused substitute in Napoli’s 4-2 win over Milan on Saturday.
And now he is ready to accept Everton’s offer but
must wait for his club to give the deal the green light.
