Wife of
wanted Badoo kingpin, Mrs. Abimbola Alaka, has appealed to President Muhammadu
Buhari, the Inspector General of Police and well-meaning Nigerians to
save her
husband and family from embarrassment, and ensure her family’s safety.
Badoo is a
notorious cult in the Ikorodu area of Lagos accused of ritual killings.
Chief
Abayomi Alaka was declared wanted by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Imohimi Edgal, for alleged ownership of a shrine where Badoo members took
oaths.
Mrs. Alaka,
who spoke to journalists from her hideout, said: “I can no longer move around
easily, as some relatives of the victims killed by Badoo cult members are
threatening to kill me and the children over something we know nothing about.
My husband is innocent of the allegations leveled against him by the police.”
She urged
Buhari to wade into the matter and stop the Lagos State police command from
destroying her husband’s integrity.
In a related
development, wife of the paramount ruler of Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local
Government Area of Bayelsa, Mrs. Tina Inegbagha, and a school principal, Mr.
Egbele Jack, have been released by their captors, 25 days after they were
kidnapped.
Gunmen in
Ayakoro abducted them on December 16, 2017.
Mr. Majesty
Inegbagha, a member of the monarch’s family, who confirmed the development to
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), yesterday, said the duo was set free on
Thursday.
The
paramount leader said an undisclosed ransom was paid to secure the release. The
kidnappers had demanded N100m. This was reduced to N30 and later N5m.
