Liverpool will look to secure Adam Lallana’s long-term future at
Anfield, with the midfielder one of the next batch of players in line for a new
contract
Lallana has emerged as one of manager Jurgen Klopp’s most-trusted
performers this term, scoring two goals in the Premier League already this
season.
And Liverpool plan to make contact with Lallana’s representatives before
the end of the year and begin discussions on an extension to his current deal
which expires in 2019.
Lallana joined the Reds from Southampton on the eve of Luis Suarez‘s move
to Barcelona, but struggled to replicate the influence he held on the south
coast.
For two seasons, the England international played a peripheral role, with
the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho outshining him.
But Klopp’s arrival has prompted a revival of Lallana’s fortunes, and
twice already this season he has broken the 2016/17 record for distance covered
by a player in a Premier League game.
Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Alberto Moreno could also be set
for contract extensions, with their current deals also expiring in 2019
