Huawei has
announced a fresh Android handset called Nova, which the firm promises will
allow you to play Pokemon GO for five hours straight on a single charge.
Announced at
the IFA conference in Berlin on Thursday, the Nova is the Chinese phone
company’s latest mid-range device. Costing €399 (£336), it's the cheaper
sibling to the firm’s flagship device, the P9 , which was released earlier this
year.
The Nova may
be a cheaper device, but it boasts a host of high specifications and look and
premium feel for the price.
It features a
5-inch display with a 443 pixel density that Huawei claims is 35% better than
the iPhone 6S.
This is set in a completely metal frame, and has what the firm is calling a "multi-curve design" for a more comfortable fit in the hand. This is thanks to its ultra narrow 1.8mm bezel and a diamond-cut “ergonomic curve” chassis.
On the inside, the Nova is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm SD 625 processor and 3GB RAM alongside 32GB memory with support for extra storage via an SD card. There's also a 12MP snapper on the back.
This is aided
by the phone processor’s ability to power more demanding graphics using less
power, according to the firm.
Alongside the
Nova, Huawei also unveiled the Nova Plus, a slightly larger version of the Nova
with all the same specifications apart from a bigger 5.5-inch display, a better
16MP camera and an even larger 3340mAh battery. The Nova Plus will cost €429
(£361).
Both handsets
will be available later in the month, Huawei said.
