Emergence of Okebo 2 of Umuleri, foundation for new age of peace in Umuleri —Obiano

Obiano who said this at the thanksgiving service to celebrate the coronation of Igwe Emeka at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel, Umuleri, described his emergence as a

thing of great joy, stating that Umueri people have lived without a royal father for some years and that tended to hinder capable representation of the community’s interest among the gathering of royal fathers in the state. He said: “The consensus of interest demonstrated by Ndi-Umueri towards the election of Igwe Emeka is an indication that the era of oneness and unity of purpose for which great Umueri Okebo is known, has returned again and that the good development is worthy of celebration and thanksgiving to God, the ultimate peace maker.” The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, thanked the Almighty God for His blessings and for granting Igwe Emeka the opportunity to serve his community as their traditional ruler and wished him God’s guidance, good health, grace and wisdom in his service to God, Umueri community and humanity at large.

Umuleri has stayed without a traditional ruler for almost 22 years, hence the reason the emergence of Igwe Emeka as the second traditional ruler of the community is  good news to the people of Umueri and other neighbouring communities within Omambala axis. The celebrant, HRM Igwe Emeka, said he organised the thanksgiving service in fulfillment of his promise to glorify God after his successful election, adding that he was filled with joy over the solidarity shown to him by Umueri people, the clergyman, his friends and well-wishers. 

According to Guardian, He thanked Governor Obiano; Dr. Nkem Okeke,  Deputy Governor of Anambra State; Mrs. Rita Mabuagwu, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly; Ozo Victor Oye, APGA national chairman; Felix Obuah, Rivers State PDP chairman; Dr. Alex Okafor, Chairman, Chicason Group of Companies; Igwe Alfred Achebe, Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council; his Lordship, Rt. Rev Johnson Ekwe, Bishop, Diocese of Niger West, other clergies, numerous friends and well wishers that identified with him for the successful coronation thanksgiving service. He further promised to use his reign to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of Umueri and to usher in peace, prosperity, love and unity in Umueri and neighbouring communities.
